get started on that summer vegetable garden

Red thumbed comrades, do not fear, I, your passionate-but-incapable garden-lover is here with links to help us all!

As much as I try, I struggle when it comes to the vegetable garden. It's my short attention span. I'm all go-go-go when it comes to the planting, but a whole lot of whop-whop noises take place over the following weeks as I forget to water anything.

I love scrolling through a good gardening book, but I find they more inspire than motivate. It's all too easy to get caught up in the pretty pictures and daydream about how wonderful my vegetable garden could be. No more! (she holds her up her fisted hand in vein)

Here are two great links to help you get out in the garden this Spring:

  • Gardening Australia's Veggie Guide tells you what and when to plant according to your climate (which is essential to find out, given we live in a large country with a wide range of climates).
  • The Diggers Club is Australia's largest gardening club. They specialise in providing heirloom seeds to gardeners all over Australia (this means that the seeds you buy from them haven't come from genetically modified plants). It's a great place to get good quality seeds and the support you need to get started with your own ethical vegetable garden. I've been meaning to join their club since I first started came across them via Gardening Australia Magazine and I think this will be the season I take my leap into heirlooms.
Do you have any helpful gardening links you'd like to share? If so, leave them in the comments below! And if you've started your veggie patch for the season, share your stories and encourage the rest of us!
