My Happy Cupboard

Hello lovelies,

Well, I've already told you about my relaxing night camping to start the weekend, and now I'm here to tell you how I completed it..... Pottering. Not the cool, sculpture kind, the wondering around the house aimlessly trying to make it look tidy and more organised than it really is.

Enter tiny-kitchen-syndrome: For two people who love to cook, our kitchen is particularly small. With very little cupboard space. Minus pantry. To the point that when friends visit I have to show them where the cups are (in another room), the plates are (in another-nother room), the tea-towels are (in another-nother-nother room), where the appliances are (well, you get the point).

I was putting away some Wupperware when I *swore* watched about half the pile fall onto the ground (again). Not great for kitchen hygiene. Terrible for mental health.

BEFORE

BEFORE

SELF: "A lid holder.... a free lid holder... and I'll sew it so it can hold the lids in the door.... then I can stack properly and know my lids wont get lost [pet hate]...."

ME: "A lid holder? Genius!"

Two hours of my afternoon, fabric, thread, scissors, cardboard, 6 washers, 3 screws & 2 nails later:

Oh the peace and quiet. It's almost like when I open the cupboard it whispers "thank you. this is just what I needed. I feel so much better."

It's not the best looking of my creations, but it is incredibly practical and fixed an ongoing problem in an afternoon. Did I mention that it was completely free? [yes]

*Sigh* I think I'll lie down and enjoy the satisfaction of a happy cupboard that no one else will ever see.

  1. This is my favourite ever post! It's so funny, I can hear you talking to yourself. And what you made is perfect! You could do something similar for pot lids!

    So proud! In awe! xoxo

  2. I love it! I know the feeling, I hate my tupperware cupboard. It breeds when I'm not looking :)

  3. Thanks lovelies! A coworker made an interesting comment today, that Tupperware was created to save us cupboard space, but for most of us tends to be the most unorganised place in the house! It's ironic, but true!

    1. It's coming, I promise!! Writing tutorials is so much harder than I thought it would be… I've just realised how many 'things' I call 'thingy'… Learning to use my words and hoping to have it up nice and early this week (just need to rope a friend into taking photos for me so I can make it easier for people to see the process!)
