Feelin' hank-a-licious!

Hankies. My grandma never leaves the home without them. My father swears by them. My partner grieves his dwindling collection. So why have I never thought to use them?

I am a chronic nose-blower. I remember the first time I successfully blew my nose into a tissue for the first time. I was a late starter. However, from then on, I have had a strong and stable relationship with the tissue box. But I need a change. I've been thinking about switching to hankies lately, since about a week ago I borrowed Kym's and felt the soft cotton on my bare nostrils (too much information?). It suddenly dawned on me that I didn't want to spend the rest of my life purchasing huge amounts of paper unnecessarily. And they always disintegrate right when you need them. I'm making the call. I'm switching to hankies. And because I have no intention of paying someone else for a scrap of cotton, I've decided to make some myself.

Here's a few pics showing the potential of the humble hankie.

  2. Will do :) I was telling one of the girls at work about it and she scared me a little, saying she used to put her husband's in boiling water to clean them properly... but I decided Kym hasn't died yet from me washing them with the rest of the clothes, so think I'll be ok! xx
