wedding wednesday: the decorations

Our wedding was oh-so-very vintage inspired, and we kept this theme rolling with the decorations. Our aim was to keep it simple, because the venue was already stunning and I didn't want to spend a huge amount of time on it. We also didn't want to have a guest room filled with the decorations for months following the wedding or have to figure out what to do with a bunch of table decorations.

For table decorations, we decided to go with potted succulents that our guests could take home. We love gardening, so a few months before the wedding, we collected cuttings from family and friends and potted enough for each of our guests. A couple of days before the wedding, Kym, my mum, the lovely Jo and I tied hessian to the pots with ribbon.

The only other decoration made was doily bunting. My dear mum did the bulk of this (80 metres in total!), and did an amazing job. We sourced all vintage doilies from second hand stores, which took some time. We were very lucky that friends kept their eyes out for us. I loved how this brought a vintage/quirky feel to the day, and also loved that it was making use of items that had a previous life.

A HUGE thanks to Neen of Neenish Arts for the above two photos. You are a lovely friend and a lovely photographer!

How'd you decorate for your big day? Are there ideas out there at the moment that you love?
