I came across this cool little "backyard chicken returns on investment calculator" via Tree Hugger a while back and, now that we actually have chickens, can give it a go. I worked out that my average finacial outlay per year is about $37, and my return will be about $110 (worth of eggs), giving me a total "profit" per year of approximately $73... not bad for a couple of adorable pets, eh?
